Parent Education

We have a variety of opportunities for parent development this year! These are wonderful ways to learn about your child's time at school, and how to connect Montessori and home.  The more you know about Montessori, the deeper your family's Montessori experience will be!

Final Friday Forums: These take place on the last Friday of the month, from September through May, and take place in the multi-purpose room from 8:45-9:45.  We have coffee together, a few of the teachers share a topic with you, and then we have discussion.  So far, they are a lot of fun!  The schedule is as follows, and topics are subject to change depending on parent feedback.  No need to RSVP - just come!

September 25: How to support independence in the home

October 30: Peace education and emotional intelligence

November 20: Developing leaders for the future - why the 3 year cycle?

December 18: Sensorial and the development of the mathematical mind

January 29: Montessori Math: moving from concrete to abstract

February 26: Phonics, reading, and language in the Montessori classroom

March 18: Using positive discipline and natural consequences

April 29: Finding the balance between home, school, and afterschool activities

May 27: How can I support my child academically over the summer?

Journey of Discovery: This is a fascinating trip through the Montessori classrooms at all levels, from Toddler through Upper Elementary.  See how it feels to be a child in the environment, observing the room and receiving lessons from teachers.  From 9:00am-1:00pm on a Saturday morning, join up to 20 other parents on this journey through the Montessori environment, and enjoy lunch and discussion together.  We will hold three Journey events this year - October 3, December 5, and February 27!  Please RSVP with the front office for the Journey.
