Elementary students transferring from other Montessori schools
age 6 by September 30 - age 12
Step 1: Attend a School Tour. School Tours are held on specific Monday mornings in the fall from 9:00 am – 11:00 am and are for adults only. The Tour consists of a PowerPoint presentation in the Science Lab; a walk through the school with members of the Admission team; an opportunity to ask questions of an Elementary teacher, a current Elementary parent, and Mrs. Meredith Le Grand, the Academic Head of School.
Step 2: Parent Classroom Observation Visit. After your School Tour, schedule your Classroom Observation Visit because at MSM we believe the best way for you to select a school is to see it firsthand. Classroom Observation Visits last a minimum of one hour and are hosted on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings between 9:00 am and 11:00 am prior to the application deadline. You will be invited to spend time in all three Elementary classrooms where you quietly observe the teachers and students. Paper applications are contained in the Application folder you receive the morning of your Classroom Observation Visit.
Step 3: Complete your Application for Admission & Parent Questionnaire. Submit your completed Application for Admission, Parent Questionnaires, signed Records Release Authorization, and a check for the $125 Application Fee by the Elementary Application deadline of January 31, 2020.
Step 4: Student Shadow Visit Day. Your child spends a day with us to gain his/her perspective, also giving our teachers a chance to start to get to know your child. All students must participate in a Shadow Day Visit in order for their applications to be considered by the Admissions Committee in February.
Step 5: Parent Interview. While your child is visiting in an Elementary classroom, we will have a chance to review your application together and answer questions you may have about Montessori at the Elementary level and MSM in particular. This process will help us each determine if our school is truly a good match for your family. We encourage you to submit your completed Application immediately following your Classroom Observation Visit in order for your child to participate in one of the Student Shadow Days prior to the Admission Committee meeting mid-February.
Step 6: Sign a Contract and remit your Enrollment Deposit: After the school has completed its re-registration process in February, you will receive written notification of the decision made by the Admission Committee. Notifications are sent the first week of March 2020.
